"I am going" poems

THE LAST POST OF THE YEAR!!! WOW!!!

  1. Making Me

    I am ready.
    Full force ahead
never slowing down, but taking it all with me.
    Before I know it…

    I’ve lived in Carlisle
been engulfed by bright neon lights
    surrounded by lush mountain greens
    splashed by foreign waters

    I’m going forward.

I’m being shaped by the world.
My eyes will struggle to take it in.
Through the mask of hate and tragedy
a light of hope will shine through.

    GLOWING with confidence,
    I’ll seek happiness and joy
    through the people I love.

    I’m going faster.

    In a world spinning round
    a still will push through.
We’ll start providing for each other,
    bringing life to our dreams.

Overdue embraces will overcome lost time
    We will make new
    but keep the old.
For one is surely silver and the other always
    gold.

    I’m going forward.

The only constant in life is change
    but, I am ready.
Because the worry I have now
will make me stronger in the future.

    Off in my own direction
    towards love, life, and loss.
    Everyone will be proud.
It was them who made me ready.

  2. Breaking Out of the Shell

The world into which I go is not my oyster; an oyster is too small.
This world is too large, intricate, and confusing to be a
lone oyster. And with an ever increasing national debt,
corrupt politicians, and war, the world seems darker than
the blackest oyster. However, my classmates have a glint
that is brighter than a pearl. While I work to improve
the health industry, they will be working for peace,
the Justice system, and honest media. After the evolution
from a white and black, to a grey, and finally a multi-colored
community, there is no telling where we will go. And while there is
no community for an oyster, I have all of humanity within a click.
So, to Saint Louis, Boston, Cairo, London, and Paris will I go. To not only
Discover myself, but also to change this big, old world for the better.

  3. Socks

    My past has become
    My future.
    Mississippi State University.
Needing to make a thousand and two decisions,
    With nothing but my suitcase,
Carrying Calculus, English, Science, and the necessities.

A villa in the south of France
    Or a townhouse in Italy
Would be nice. But for now,
A condo in Florida will do.
Time will stand still for someone
Who has her toes buried in the sand,
    Her nose in a book,
And her best friends on the blankets next to her.

    Tears will fall,
That is inevitable. Crying is as much a part of happiness
    As laughing.
    And I will fail.
    As un-appealing as that seems,
    It’s quite a
    Liberating thought.
There will be pressure to succeed
    And I will crave success
    And sometimes I will succeed,
    But I will fail.

    There’s that moment
    When you don’t know anything.
That moment when you just want to
Fly off to the second star to the right
    And straight on ‘till morning.
    But I have to believe
    That where I am going
    And how I get there
    Will hold more adventure
Than anything I could experience in a fairytale.

  4. Where You Will Find Me

    Someday you will find me
living on the country lane or
    maybe in the cityscape
    Belonging to the world but
    Living for myself.

    Thinking about culture,
    about news,
    about community,
    And only ever
    Thinking for myself.

    Believing in laughter
    in hard work
    in tears
    And always
    Believing in Myself

    Maybe a simple life,
    probably a busy life.
    Someday you will find me
    Living out my own life
    Becoming who I am
